Bending Rebar

1_htm_m58ec8510
  1. You probably won't have access to a rebar bender, so you can use an old tree stump for your station in the campo. When finding an area, find a flat felled tree that is still quite hard.
  2. Hammer a bunch of concrete nails (the ones that look like small railroad spikes) in four spots as shown in the photo. You want to have a small gap between a group of two that the rebar can fit into. Repeat about 8” away with another set of two.

  1. If you have a metal pipe available, this can help with leverage on smaller rebar pieces.
  2. When bending rebar, have someone stand on the rebar between the 4 sets of nails so that the rebar does not pop out during bending.
