Connecting Tubes

1_htm_101d597e
  1. Clean both tubes inside and out with a rag
  2. Connect tubes WITHOUT GLUE to make sure the connection will work
  3. Once you are sure the connection will work, apply glue to the outside of the male part of the tube and the inside of the female part of the tube.
  4. Insert the tube in fully with a quarter turn and keep firm pressure for 10 seconds
  5. Leave the connection free of water, dirt, etc. for at least 24 hours. Do not turn on the system during this time as it will put the connection under pressure.
Note: Keep the glue out of direct sunlight as the glue will dry out. In addition, for field repairs consider getting a smaller can and larger can for refills. Use the smaller can for repairs so that in case the can knocks over, you have backup glue and the whole (larger) can was not wasted.
The process of connecting tubes is the same for any PVC component (elbows, valves, etc.).
