Flow Reducer Maintenance

Flow reducers can wear out over time. Sediment in the pipe can wear out the entire disc or at least make the small hole a little larger, reducing the effectiveness of the disc. In older systems (10+ years) with flow reducers, replacing the flow reducers may help with pressure issues in the system. If the expected flows from NeatWork software is not matching real conditions, consider replacing the flow reducers. In most rural aqueducts in Panama, flow reducers were never installed in the first place.

To replace the flow reducer, the tube should be cut in the original flow reducer location. The flow reducer should be removed and replaced with a new flow reducer. You will need to place the flow reducer against the tube and sandwiched with the bell of the new connecting piece.
